Vegas Baby, part 1

July 29th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I’m still tired after a whirlwind trip to Vegas over the weekend.  And I only had one drink!
We packed up the rental car (a 2009 Impala) Thursday night.  It’s a nice car, leather, sunroof, giant trunk.  It served us very well the whole trip and was very comfortable.
The boys and I hit the road about [...]

Starbucks

July 9th, 2009 · 5 Comments

I’m not a big coffee drinker but my ride to work likes to stop at Starbucks every now and then.  I usually don’t buy anything because I don’t like to pay $4 for any drink, especially not coffee.  (I’m more of a $1 44-ounce soda kind-of-guy)  This morning I figured what the hell and sprung [...]

An evening at the concession stand

April 29th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I’m sooooooo tired.  Got home from work about 5:00pm yesterday, headed straight to the Elko Little League baseball fields.  We had snack bar duty so we were there until 9:30, flipping burgers, frying fries, cheesing nachos.  Despite the long hours and the backache I get a kick out of my time at the snack bar.    [...]

CHICKS, man…

April 20th, 2009 · 2 Comments

The in-laws let us chick-sit yesterday.  27 little pecking fuzzballs.  Aren’t they adorable?

In that last picture it looks like Bart does not approve of the sweet ‘fro.
I didn’t even know you could ship live animals through the US Postal Service.  Pretty cool.

Billy Mays is my hero.

February 26th, 2009 · 4 Comments

I’m a sucker for infomercials.
We watched the entire GT Express 101 infomercial in a hotel room on our most recent trip to Twin Falls, ID.  The Snuggie, the ShamWow, the Swivel Sweeper, Oxi-Clean, anything with “Chef Tony”,  I eat them up.  Now I’m not going to say that I *buy* stuff off infomercials.  I’m not [...]

Happy Birthday to our babies!

February 2nd, 2009 · 6 Comments

Cooper and Ollie are officially 1 year old so we threw a little party over the weekend.  We invited their brother Tully and brother-from-another-mother Monson over.   There were balloons, streamers, doggie bags, cake (with dog-friendly ingredients of course) and everyone seemed to have a great time, with very little humping.
We even invited the cats.  Here’s [...]

Happy New Year!

January 28th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Only 3 months without a post.   New record!  I was in Vancouver, BC last week for work.  It was pea-soup foggy for only the first 5 days, so by Friday I finally was able to see more than a block down the street.  I figured out a few things about Canadian (or perhaps just BC) people.  [...]

10 things I love about Elko, Nevada (in no particular order)

October 22nd, 2008 · 3 Comments

Basque food. — The Star, Biltoki’s, etc. Plus Chorizos at just about every event!
The sun — As much as I hate the extreme heat and cold, waking up to a bright sunny day 80% of the time is nice.

Great customer service — some businesses are great and still give off that friendly small-town vibe
Casinos –  (Sports [...]

Happy Birthday to me, Bitches!

August 21st, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today’s my birthday.  I’m 34 years old.  I’ve spent nearly 10% of my life in Elko, Nevada.
I got some neat stuff from the wife and kids.  Lots of Blazer stuff, which is cool.  Reminds me of Portland.  *sigh*  I’d put up pictures but it’s late and I’m tired.
We had dinner at Mattie’s.  We’ve only eaten there [...]
